Gargantua and Pantagruel

Notebook

A sprawling satirical romance in five books by the French humanist François Rabelais, published between 1532 and 1564. The giants Gargantua and his son Pantagruel furnish the occasion for encyclopedic comedy, earthy burlesque, and humanist learning on everything from education and war to law, religion, and philosophy. It is one of the foundational works of European comic literature and a high monument of Renaissance humanism.
