Edward Bouverie Pusey (1838)

Written in Latin around 397–400 CE by Augustine, Bishop of Hippo in Roman North Africa. It is widely regarded as the first true autobiography in Western literature — a prayerful account of Augustine's intellectual and spiritual journey from restless Manichean youth, through rhetorical ambition, to Christian conversion. The work founded the tradition of Christian introspective writing and remains one of the central documents of late antique thought.
