Fragments toward an unfinished defense of Christianity, written by the French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal in the late 1650s and early 1660s and published posthumously in 1670. The work combines rigorous analysis of human psychology with lyrical meditations on the wretchedness and greatness of man, on faith, and on the limits of reason — including Pascal's famous wager. It is one of the most penetrating and restless works of religious thought ever written.
