Capital

Karl Marx's Capital (Das Kapital, Volume I, 1867) is the central work of Marxist economics and one of the most influential books of the modern age. Subtitled 'A Critique of Political Economy,' it analyzes the capitalist mode of production, beginning from the commodity and the labour theory of value and building to the theory of surplus-value—the unpaid labour Marx argues is the source of capitalist profit. It traces the working day, machinery, wages, and the accumulation of capital, culminating in an account of the historical genesis of capitalism. This is the Moore-Aveling English translation, edited by Friedrich Engels.
