Iliad

Notebook

An epic poem of roughly the 8th century BCE in archaic Greek, traditionally attributed to Homer, treating a few weeks in the final year of the Trojan War. It centers on the wrath of Achilles and its terrible consequences for Greeks and Trojans alike. Along with the Odyssey, it stands at the head of the Western literary tradition and has shaped nearly every later conception of heroism, honor, and mortality.
