Thomas Aquinas's Summa Theologica, composed between 1265 and 1274 and left unfinished at his death, is the most ambitious synthesis of Christian doctrine and Aristotelian philosophy ever attempted. This edition presents Part I (the Prima Pars), which treats the existence and nature of God, the Trinity, creation, angels, human nature, and divine governance, organized as 119 Questions each subdivided into Articles that weigh objections, cite authorities, and arrive at responses. The Summa became the central theological textbook of medieval and early-modern Catholicism and, through Neo-Thomism, shapes Catholic intellectual life to this day.
